Trending: wearing brocade to holiday parties

December is the month full of parties: work parties, Christmas parties and the biggest bash of all – New Year’s Eve. It’s important to stand out – in the right way. Brocade is a lavish and holiday-worthy trend that will give your outfit the perfect amount of elegance.

Dolce & Gabbana’s Winter 2013 Collection was full of this chic look – inspired by Sicilian Baroque. KORHANI’s Bianka rug and gold frame bring the luxurious trend from the runway into your home.

Remember, keep it simple. Wear brocade on only one element of your ensemble. If your dress is full of gilded brocade, keep your shoes simple. Same goes with makeup. Make your eyes pop by adding gold highlights to a classic smoky eye.

Beyond Venice

Venice is known for its masquerades, lavish costumes and gilded facades, but the mastery in ornament does not end within its canals. Burano, one of many small islands surrounding Venice has a unique and exquisit specialty of its own. Similar to Venice, it us made up of several canals that direct its tourists and few inhabitants. The island specializes in lace and has done so for hundreds of years.

The intricate lace patterns from Burano have influenced the world. The city, thought to be founded in the 6th century was visited by many famous scholars, including Leonardo da Vinci, who aided the popularity and spread of these stylistic details. KORHANI home’s Venice Carnival collection has designs inspired by such elaborate patterns.

All hand crafted, the city is the world’s finest producer of lace. Specializing in a craft for so many centuries has allowed time for its signature patterns to find themselves in our own current designs. KORHANI home has adopted some of these patterns by way of stylistic evolution!

Last Minute gift ideas for everyone on your list!

The week before Christmas is upon us, in fact, we’re left with only 5 days.  The lights are up, the tree is trimmed, and gifts are getting wrapped — but wait, you forgot that one person on your list!

Maybe you didn’t forget at all, maybe you just don’t know what to get that last person on your list.  Well, we’ve rounded some last minute gift ideas that are all budget friendly enough to let that special someone know you thought of them this season, but will make sure you’re still good to your wallet.

Get messy in the kitchen for under $10:
Sometimes money gets really tight this time of year, so a really inexpensive gift idea is to bake some holiday treats for those on your list.  Sticking to simple and classic recipes that everybody loves is a great way to bake in larger quantities that can be divided up between your coworkers, neighbors, and friends.  Wrap them up in inexpensive cello bags and tie a pretty ribbon (both can be found at the dollar store) and you instantly add a personal touch your recipients are going to appreciate.  For an easy recipe, visit Cookies that are almost too pretty to eat.

Pamper them for under $50:

Splish Splash Black Raspberry Vanilla Gift Set from Bath & Body Works, $30. Available at bathanbodyworks.com

The one thing we all love is a little TLC and some bath products like soaps, bubble baths, and lotions to keep our skin glowing even during the dry winter months is a gift we can all use a little bit of.  Try a scent that may be your favorite, or if you know their favorite products or scents, that is a safe bet that you’re going to hit the mark with something they’ll love.  Most stores offer gift receipts, so even if you do miss the mark, they can exchange it for one they will want to use.

For more gift sets and variety, visit Bath and Body Works or The Body Shop.

Surprise even the “hostess with the mostess” for under $100:

Chancellor Cheese Board by Pottery Barn, $90.00. Available at potterbarn.com

We all know her– maybe she’s your sister, mother-in-law, or best friend.  She’s the kitchen magician, the one with the most intricate attention to every little detail, the one you don’t dare compete with at her own game.  She’s not impossible to please, you just have to think like she does.  Find the gift that she can use, that she might never buy for herself, or the one that just might make her laugh.  Treat her to something she’ll keep for years like a vase, a cheese board, or crystal wine glasses.  Visit gorgeous gift ideas for under $100 for more giving ideas this holiday.

“Cut a rug” for under $200:

Finally, for those who love to decorate or could use an update in their space, KORHANI Home has some rug solutions to please every room.  This would make the perfect house warming gift for the person on your list who just moved in, or needs to freshen up their space.  Choose from a selection of rugs at our online store or search for ones at a retailer near you using our In-store Shop store finder.
